Learning Without Limits

Beginning August 2010, the Hernando County School Board will be launching an exciting opportunity for students residing in Hernando County by opening the Hernando eSchool. This progressive choice program will provide expanded educational services to a wider student community for anywhere, anytime learning. Virtual schooling meets the demands of today’s digital learners through individualized instruction that moves beyond four walls and a clock.

The Hernando eSchool will provide two programs for students – a full-time 6-12 virtual school and a part-time 6-12 virtual school. Students must meet the eligibility requirements in accordance with Florida Statute to enroll in the full-time virtual program.

Students in grades 6-12 can take one or more virtual courses through our franchise with Florida Virtual School (FLVS) on a full-time or part-time basis. This program is open to home education, private, charter, public and students new to Hernando County. Highly qualified Hernando County teachers will teach the virtual courses and there will be no waiting list.

There are no costs to students residing in Hernando County for this program.

Note: For students in grades K-5, please contact Ms. Debbie Pfenning, Curriculum Supervisor at 352-797-7070 ext. 448 for information about the Florida Connections Online Academy.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Hernando County School District is to provide quality education in a safe environment for the youth of our community.  We recognize that this will foster their growth physically, socially, and academically. We provide the opportunity for life long learning for all our citizens so that all may compete and flourish in a modern, global economy. Students are our primary concern and very reason for our existence, however, we are also sensitive to the needs of others such as parents, the community and all employees of Hernando County Schools.
