JosephMaherApr2013

Mrs. Maher is a hero to her students when each year they learn history and become a star. She has a wonderful way of teaching her student’s history and living it by portraying a character. Parents and community members are able to see the student’s come alive by pushing their buttons. Once the button is pushed star tells about that character during the time in history. The Wax Museum of Star’s is truly a great way of teaching history in a meaningful way.

JuliaMorioMar2013

Mrs. Morio delivers her students to school on time and in a safe and friendly bus environment.  She looks out for all the riders on her bus and is always available to help out in any way possible.  Her interest in student lives and their well being is obvious and the students start the day off positively and better prepared to learn because of her concern and interest in their lives. She loves all her students, present and past, and they feel the same about her.  The students at Spring Hill still remember her kind and caring ways.  The teachers and staff remember her generosity and friendly personality.

Mrs. Morio and her husband donate foods and gift items to the needy families at S.H.E.S. every holiday season.   They provide over ten turkeys and side dishes to our guidance department for those families that don’t have the money for a Thanksgiving dinner.  Then at Christmas they bring in another ten plus hams and side dishes to help those families that are struggling during the holidays.  Finally, they choose student names from our Christmas Angel program.  Mrs. Morio and her husband joyfully bring in these gifts and do not want attention, gratitude, or praise for their selfless donations.  She is our Hernando HEROES.

EricMilhollandOct2012

Eric Milholland is a great math teacher and track coach at NCTHS. He helps students with math before school and during his lunch. He takes time to explain and instruct math so students can get it. He’s an excellent role model who encourages and makes sure the students are focused on their education first. Besides being the coach for both girls and boys at NCTHS he helps set up cross country runs for all the district teams in our county.

Mr. Milholland is a dedicated professional who cares for all students and is a HERO in many ways.

SusanZanattaSeptt2013

FNS came up with idea to promote summer feeding with a mobile feeding unit. Susan was instrumental in bringing the idea to fruition. Susan is passionate about feeding students healthy and nutritious foods, even when school is out. She coordinated with other departments to get the bus outfitted for feeding and on the road and ready to go for the summer.

Susan understands that students must be fed and nurtured even when school is not in session. Many students in the community rely on the food from the district’s summer feeding program. The summer mobile feeding unit fosters community relationships by bridging the gap during the summer for families that need support in feeding their students when school is out.

Susan has only been with the district 1 year, however from the moment she was hired she was willing to jump in and do what needed to be done. She is great taking ideas and turning them into reality. She is a great trainer and teacher. She is creative and has really worked to make the cafeteria a learning environment for students, from menu information and monthly themes to giveaways and prizes. Susan is always looking for way to engage students to think about the choices they make which affect their health and wellness.
