Mission
The mission of the Department of Food & Nutrition is to offer and serve high-quality, nutritious food choices in a positive and engaging environment. The Food and Nutrition program serves in excess of 2,500,000 lunches and 1,000,000 breakfasts to students during the school year. In addition, 150,000 snacks are served in after-school programs during the regular school year and 40,500 lunches are served during the summer.
Food and Nutrition Department
The Food and Nutrition Services Department is completely financially self-sufficient with revenues exceeding $10,000,000 per year. Food and Nutrition Services receives no local tax dollars and is supported through its student customers, adult customers and state and federal reimbursements.
Meals served to students meet the guidelines established by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) which reflect the "myplate" philosophy promoted by USDA. Each day over 200 dedicated food service employees prepare and serve meals in a caring and professional manner. By enhancing their skills through staff development opportunities, food service employees are constantly striving to be the best school food service program in the nation!
