Dear Parents of Upcoming Football Players,

The 2019-2020 school year is quickly approaching and we’re excited that your child will be joining the WHMS football program. Upon joining the program, your child will need the sports packet turned in before participating in any physical activities. A sports packet includes Parent Consent and Release from liability certificate (EL3), Consent and release from liability certificate from concussions (EL3 form 2), Consent and Release from Liability Certificate for Sudden Cardiac Arrest and Heat-Related Illness (EL3 form 3), Consent and Release from Liability Certificate (EL3 form 4), Preparticipation Physical Evaluation (EL2 form 1), Pre-participation Physical Evaluation (EL2 form 2); if your child is cleared without limitation EL2 form 3 doesn’t need to be filled out. Make sure that the insurance portion is filled out with name of insurance company and policy number.

To the parents of upcoming 7th and 8th graders, your child must have an overall G.P.A of 2.0 for the second semester of the 2018-2019 school year in order to be eligible to participate in the Fall football season. All sports paperwork must be up to date for the 2019-2020 school year and turned into Coach Hudson prior to practicing.

Summer conditioning will start on June 17th from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Conditioning will run from Monday through Thursday. This will be a time for your child to improve on his or her strength, speed, and agility. All students need to bring in their own water each day. Specific equipment is needed: athletic shorts, shirt, tennis shoes, and cleats. Also, make sure that your child eats a balanced breakfast before coming to conditioning. Your child will have a chance to interact with his or her peers and the coaches.

Expectations are that all students will come with a positive attitude and prepared to work hard. Students will be expected to attend 90% of the conditioning. Attending these practices doesn’t lock in a spot for the upcoming school year. This is an opportunity for your child to enhance their abilities so that they compete for a spot during tryouts.
