Services Provided

  • Attendance Assistant
    The Attendance Assistant investigates excessive absenteeism, to ensure compliance with the Florida Compulsory Attendance Law.   Attendance Assistants investigate:

    • Truancy
    • Tardies
    • Non-compliant enrollment

    They also provide transportation home for students who are either too disruptive, or too ill to remain in school, and to parents, who due to lack of transportation are unable to attend staffings, parent conferences, etc.

    Educational Diagnosticians
    Educational Diagnosticians are professionals trained to evaluate:

    • Pre-schoolers
    • Primary 
    • Secondary students

    They work closely with parents, teachers, and school psychologists in using a wide variety of techniques to evaluate academic skills.  Educational Diagnosticians, in conjunction with other school personnel, strive to help make education a positive and rewarding experience for students.

    School Psychologist
    The School Psychologist:

    • Designs, implements, and evaluates interventions for students experiencing learning and behavioral difficulties
    • Consults with teachers to develop classroom strategies
    • Provide functional behavioral assessment
    • Administer and interpret psycho-educational evaluations and re-evaluations
    • Provide verbal and written feedback to school personnel and parents regarding evaluation
    • Participate in decision-making process for students with special needs
    • Provide workshops to school personnel and parents on relevant topics
    • Assist in developing crisis intervention plans and services in reaction to school crisis
    • Serve as members of the Student Support Team

    School Social Worker
    The School Social Worker:

    • Facilitates suicide & homicide assessments
    • Provides crisis intervention
    • Truancy intervention
    • Consultation
    • Classroom observation
    • Performs functional behavioral assessments
    • Performs clinical assessments 
    • Linkage and referrals for families to community agencies and services
    • Participates on the Student Support Team meetings
    • Provide in-service trainings as needed or requested
    • Meets with parents 
    • Provides assistance to schools and the families of the schools by visiting the home
    • Interim counseling
    • Facilitates groups 
    • Acts as a liaison between the school and the parent
    • Develop intervention strategies for behavioral problems and completes clinical histories 

    Substance Abuse Intervention
    The Substance Abuse Intervention Specialist is under the umbrella of the Safe and 
    Drug Free Schools Grant.  The services and programs funded by this grant include:
    Classroom presentations on drug abuse, violence and tobacco

    • Individual and group counseling programs for substance abuse
    • Staff workshops on violence prevention and drug education
    • Facilitates the smoking awareness program
    • Conducts the drug awareness program for the child and the parent
    • Coordinates the mentoring program 
    • Conducts urine drug screenings                                                                                                                                        

    Health Officials

    • Provide medical assistance and knowledge to schools and medically needy children
    • Facilitate health screenings
