Career & Technical or College Pathway

Pathways for students to reach their learning goals are built from a wide variety of program offerings. Students attending Hernando Schools may choose from a wide variety of courses that include fine arts, humanities, advanced academic courses and Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs. While the content provided here is organized in two sections, it is important to understand that students may take advanced academic and CTE courses at the same time. They are not separate pathways but can work together to create a personalized map to meet your graduation and career goals. Advanced Academic Program

Advanced Academics - Click to find out more about:   Advanced Placement - AP courses are college courses, offered at all of our high schools, that can earn students college credit while still in high school.   AICE - Students may earn a prestigious Advanced International Certificate of Education Diploma by completing this program located at Central High School.   AVID - Courses are designed to prepare students for college level coursework through individualized learning. AVID is available at Weeki Wachee High   IB - Located at Springstead, the International Baccalaureate Program offers students coursewotk leading to an IB Diploma designation upon graduation.

Dual Enrollment - The Hernando School District provides high school students access to college courses that allow them to earn high school and college credit from the same course.   Students interested in taking dual enrollment may take courses from the University of Florida, University of South Florida, Pasco-Hernando State College and Embry-Riddle without leaving their high school campus. Bright Futures Scholarship - he Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program establishes lottery-funded scholarships to reward Florida high school graduates for high academic achievement.   The Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program has helped more than 725,000 Florida students attend a post-secondary institution. Bright Futures awards include: Florida Academic Scholars award (FAS), Florida Medallion Scholars award (FMS), Florida Gold Seal CAPE Scholars award (GSC) and the Florida Gold Seal Vocational Scholars award (GSV).
