Eastside Elementary Junior Audubon Club!
A childhood rich in nature is a good childhood. Our students deserve any and all opportunities to be connected to nature and connect science in the classroom to real world examples of science at work. With that in mind Eastside Elementary School, in partnership with the Hernando Audubon Society, is proud to have our Junior Audubon Club availabe to 2nd through 5th graders as an after school club. We meet every other Thursday from 3:00pm to 4:30pm. Our club members spend time outside on campus exploring nature, working to develop an eco-area with wild bird houses and quail houses, putting native plants into our Memory Garden, and learning about the ecology of Florida. We frequently have guest speakers from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the Florida Park Service. The goal of our club is to connect kids to nature and deepen their love of science. Mrs. Bailey and Mr. Murphy are our club sponsors.
