Program Description

This program offers a sequence of courses that provides coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in the Law, Public Safety and Security. The Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission have established a basic recruit training program to provide foundational knowledge for aspiring officers in the respective criminal discipline.

  • Crimes Against Persons — 48 Hours
  • DUI Traffic Stops — 24 Hours
  • Criminal Justice Firearms — 80 Hours
  • Traffic Stops — 24 Hours
  • Criminal Justice Defensive Tactic — 80 Hours
  • Traffic Incidents — 12 Hours
  • First Aid for Criminal Justice — 40 Hours
  • Traffic Crash Investigation — 30 Hours
  • Crime Scene Follow-up Investigations — 34 Hours
  • Critical Incidents — 44 Hours
  • Law Enforcement Vehicle Operation — 48 Hours
  • Legal — 64 Hours
  • Introduction to Law Enforcement — 12 Hours
  • Crimes Involving Property and Society — 12 Hours
  • Conducted Electrical Weapon/Dart-Firing Stun Gun — 4 Hours
  • Conducted Justice Officer Physical Fitness Training/Law Enforcement — 60 Hours

Program Requirements

The State of Florida requires students to meet the basic skill level requirement prior to program completion.

Completion Requirements

A student must have passed all required courses in the program and satisfied all financial obligations before he or she is eligible to receive a certificate of completion of the program.

Costs

In State Tuition: $2.44 per program hour (770 Hours)
Out of State Tuition: $9.32 per program hour (770 Hours)

Schedule

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 5 pm - 10 pm with some Fridays. (34 weeks)
