Welcome to Our School

HHS logoHernando High School is home to the mighty Leopards! Our school was founded in 1889 and~is one of the most historic public high schools in the United States.~ Nestled in the heart of Brooksville and embraced by our community, you can see our purple and gold colors proudly waving from houses and businesses throughout the area. Hernando High School is honored to have strong support from our families and business partners who stay involved and encourage our students.  While our school is rich with tradition and pride that runs generations deep, new families to our school are welcomed with open arms as they get to experience Leopard Pride.

Hernando High School has an open and spacious campus that offers students a wide variety of programs and opportunities that bring the students and community together.~ Our award-winning Agriculture Program is second to none and is a wildly popular course among all grade levels. Our PIT Crew program is a highly regarded peer mentoring program where students take the lead in creating a positive educational environment serving as leaders to assist in the academic, social and behavioral journey for students who are in need of more specialized educational opportunities. We grow leaders here.

The mighty Leopard student athletes bring their best everyday whether they play in the gym, on the field or on the track. Hernando High athletics has a long history of developing competitive teams while fostering an environment where our young athletes are able to develop skills that prepare them to be great teammates in the classroom, at work and in the community. A great number of Hernando athletes have gone on to compete at the collegiate and even professional level.

Hernando High School alumni play a pivotal role in our school culture and add to our school spirit by joining us at a host of community events such as homecoming week, homecoming parade, and the athletic Hall of Fame. In our community, the Royal Regiment marching band can be heard pounding and piping from the Leopards Den throughout the community on raucous Friday Nights in the fall.~

At Hernando High School, our goal is to prepare all of our students to graduate with the skills and character to join the workforce or pursue educational opportunities outside post high school. As I approach my 10th year as the Principal at Hernando High School, I am proud that I have always been, and always will be,~ a true Leopard Leader who~ is inspired by her Leopard family. ~Leopard Pride in All Things! Bring It!
