Textbook Adoption Review
2023-24 Science Adoption Review
Hernando County School District(HCSD) will begin the textbook adoption process for Science K-12
beginning in March of 2024 for the 2024-2025 school year. All requests for materials and reviews were
conducted via the EdCredible platform to determine invited publishers.
HCSD kindly requests publishers submit new, state-approved instructional materials for consideration in
our 23-24, grades K-12 Science adoption review. This request is for Science textbook/curriculum for
Elementary (K-5), Middle (6-8) and High (9-12) School. We are asking each vendor to provide 1 set of
sample materials/ adoption review packages per grade level/content area per school/dept that include
both student and teacher editions. Online samples can be emailed to directors. Please send the sample

Hernando County Schools will only consider Science course materials that are approved by the State of
Florida for use starting in 24-25. If the State of Florida has not approved materials for a specific course,
we will review and consider off-list instructional materials for that specific course if no other options are
available.

Please note that the adoption committee requires a commitment to attend all meetings. The
meeting dates and times are as follows:
- Elementary Science Committee - Wednesday, April 24th, 2024 at 8:30 – 3:30 pm
- Middle School Science Committees - Monday, April 29th, 2024 at 8:30 – 3:30 pm
- High School Science Committees - Tuesday, April 30th, 2023 at 7:30 – 3:00 pm
These meetings are in addition to the hours of individual review time of the publishers textbooks that
staff received prior to these dates. All meetings will be conducted in-person. Your participation on the
committee is on a volunteer basis.
