Non-Instructional Minimum Wage Update

FAQs

What and when is minimum wage changing to?  In March the Florida legislature voted to increase minimum wage for all employees of school districts to $15.00 per hour to be effective October 1, 2022.

How does this affect staff not making at least $15.00 per hour?  Any employee not making $15.00 per hour will have their hourly rate increased to at least $15.00 per hour.  Some employees making less than $15.00 per hour will see their hourly rate increased to more than $15.00 per hour due to where they fall on the salary schedule.

How does this affect non-instructional staff who are making more than $15.00 per hour?  All non-instructional staff will receive an increase in their hourly rate of pay of at least $1.00 per hour.  The increases will vary, but no one will receive less than a $1.00 per hour increase.

How will I know how much I will be making per hour after ratification is complete?  This information can be found in your Skyward account in Employee Access under Check Estimator.  The amount next to Dock or OT1.0 is your hourly rate of pay.  Instructions on how to access Employee Access are attached.

What will the new minimum base hourly rates be?  A copy of the proposed new minimum base rates is attached for reference.

When will the new rate of pay be effective?  If ratified by both parties, HUSW and the School Board by 6/28/2022, non-instructional employees will see the increase beginning with their first paycheck in the 2022-23 fiscal year.

Will I still receive my step increase for this year?  Step increase will be included in the raise.  So if your increase is $1.00 that includes step.

Will we still receive double step increases at the 5 year, 10 year 15 year & 20 year step levels?  No, however beginning in 2027 and every 5 years after all non-instructional employees will receive double step increases provided funds are available, as per the collective bargaining contract.

What about if I’m already at step 20 or higher?  If you are already receiving the higher step increase that will continue so long as you are employed in the non-instructional bargaining unit.

How will this affect me if I transfer to another position within the non-instructional bargaining unit?  Beginning July 2022, all transfers will be lateral.  Non-instructional employees transferring to another position within the non-instructional bargaining unit will no longer be required to provide “like” experience to transfer laterally.

What is the ratification timeline?  HUSW will be holding ratification voting on Wednesday June 22nd through Friday June 25th at the HUSW business office, located at 7288 Sunshine Gove Road, Brooksville, FL  34614.  Hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Wednesday & Thursday.  9:00 AM to 7:00 PM on Friday and 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday.  In person voting only.

Do I have to be a HUSW dues paying member to vote? No, voting is open to all Non-instructional employees.

Salary increases for other employee groups will be forthcoming.
