FLDOE APPROVES SCHOOL DISTRICT’S REOPENING PLAN

August 5th - Hernando School Superintendent, John Stratton, was notified on Wednesday by the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) that Hernando’s District Reopening Plan received state approval. The plan, submitted to the state on July 28th, served to outline all steps the school district will take to ensure the safety of students and staff and to maintain a broad scope of services for students when they return.

From the FLDOE website: “Each district created unique, innovative plans that prioritize the safety and security of students and educators and ensuring ALL Florida students can continue to receive a world-class education.”

The school district began preparing the Return To School Plan in April by recruiting an experienced task force made up of district and school leaders with experience in mobilizing resources and responding to emergency situations.

“Our Reopening Plan is comprehensive. It was vital that we develop a deliberate, thoughtful and straightforward blueprint for the safety and well being of staff, students and for all of those who engage with us. Establishing a system of procedures and safeguards to ensure a safe reopening was vital work and, at no time, did our team lose sight of the value of that work,” Superintendent John Stratton said.
