Brooksville - The Florida Department of Education released its annual report of graduation rates this week. The Hernando School District's 2023 graduation rate is 89%, holding steady from the district’s 2022 graduation rate and exceeding the state average of 88% placing Hernando 26th out of the state’s 67 school districts. State data also shows that Hernando exceeded the state’s average across multiple subgroups.

High schools with notable gains in their graduation rate included Hernando High jumping from 84.1% in 2022 to 86.7% in 2023; Central High moved from 89.1% to 90.6%; and Hernando eSchool, the district’s virtual school, saw the largest increase to 94.7%, up from 83.9% in 2022.

“The graduation rate is an important marker of academic success for a school district,” said John Stratton, Superintendent of Schools. "It helps identify barriers of student achievement and informs the way we direct additional resources to improving those outcomes for all students.”
