NOTICE TO NON-INSTRUCTIONAL APPLICANTS
Typing Test
* Applicants applying for clerical positions, which require a typing test, will be tested in the Human Resources Department. To make an appointment, please call the Human Resources Department at 352-797-7005.
Original Social Security Card and Florida Driver's License
If original Social Security Card is not available, please visit Social Security Online. To locate the nearest Social Security Office please click on the following link, Social Security Office Locator. The original card must be presented to the Human Resources Department within ten (10) days of the employee’s start date.
If a Florida Driver’s License is not available, a Florida ID card is acceptable. Also, a valid driver’s license from another state is acceptable, but a Florida Driver’s License or ID must be presented to the Human Resources Department within thirty (30) days of the employee’s start date.
Drug Test
All employees are required to have a drug test prior to employment. The employee is responsible for the fee of $43.00. Do not go for a drug test until advised by the Human Resources Department.
Fingerprinting
Employees are required to be fingerprinted by the Human Resources Department. The employee is responsible for the fee of $58.55. The criminal history background report must be received before an employee can report to work. If an employee fails to disclose all arrests or has arrests that are prohibited in the Hiring Guidelines, it will result in a Not-Eligible to Work status or termination.
High School Diploma/Transcripts (as applicable)
All positions with the Hernando County School District require a high school diploma or GED. A non-instructional employee who has acquired sixty (60) college credits or more, as verified by a transcript, will be paid an additional amount as approved by the School Board. When verification (an official transcript, etc.) is received by the Human Resources Department, an adjustment to the salary will be made from the beginning of the pay period during which it was received. The original offical High School Diploma, GED and or transcript, as per the job description requirment(s), must be presented to the Human Resources Department. Translation of foreign transcripts and a certificate of accuracy is required.
College coursework transcripts must be offical and sealed from the college.
Paraprofessional Requirements
Applicants applying for a Paraprofessional position must have at least 60 College Credit Hours, an AA Degree or have passed the Para Pro test with a score of at least 464. www.ets.org/parapro

Verification of Experience (for confidential, non-instructional, vocational teachers and professional/technical/supervisory personnel)
In order for years of experience to be granted, the employment must be listed on the General Employment section of the online application. All experience must be verified by the former employer(s) using the appropriate Hernando County School District form provided below. It is the responsibility of the employee to request the forms.
Professional/Technical/Supervisory personnel cannot be granted military experience. Confidential and non-instructional personnel may be granted up to three (3) years credit for military experience. A copy of the DD-214 must be submitted to the Human Resources Department. Confidential and non-instructional personnel may also be granted up to ten (10) years of experience for comparable work as determined by the Human Resources Department. The combination of military experience and comparable work experience cannot exceed ten (10) years. In order for granted experience to be retroactive to employee's start date, the verification form(s) must be received in the Human Resources Department within forty-five (45) days of the employee's start date. If the verification forms are received beyond the forty-five (45) days, the salary adjustment will be made from the beginning of the pay period during which the forms were received.
Verification of Work Experience-Noninstructional/Instructional Vocational/Professional-Technical
Verification of Experience (for instructional personnel)
Instructional personnel may be granted up to ten (10) years credit for military experience. A copy of the DD-214 must be submitted to the Human Resources Department. Instructional personnel may be granted up to ten (10) years of teaching experience that is verified by the previous district(s). Proof of a satisfactory evaluation rating in a full-time teaching position for each year of verified service (in accordance with Florida Statute) must be received in order to be granted experience credit. Salary adjustments will be retroactive to employee's start date if the verification form(s) are received in the Human Resources Department within forty-five (45) days of the employee's start date. If the verification forms are received beyond the forty-five (45) days, the salary adjustment will be made from the beginning of the pay period during which the forms were received.
