Verification of Previous Work Experience

Work Experience Granted for Previous Employment

All experience must be verified by the former employer(s). Verification of Work Experience Forms are available in the Human Resources Department and online. It is the responsibility of the employee to obtain these forms and provide the completed forms to the Human Resources Department. Forms must be completed and signed by a previous employer or employment agency and must include contact information (such as address and phone number). The Verification of Employment Forms must be received by the Human Resource Department within forty-five (45) calendar days of the employee’s start date to be retroactive to the employee’s start date. If the forms are received beyond the forty-five (45) days, the salary adjustment will be made from the beginning of the pay period during which the forms were received.

It is recommended that you complete a Verification of Work Experience form for ALL previous employment. Previous experience can only be brought in ONE TIME for the entire duration of employment with the Hernando County School District regardless of employment changes.

If a candidate is trying to bring in experience from self-employment, he/she must provide the Human Resources Department with letters from customers or clients, W2 Forms and 1040 Forms. From time to time, we may require additional information to complete the work experience process. You may be asked to provide copies of W2 Forms and/or 1040 Forms. This request will be made on an individual basis.

Only Administrative and Professional/Technical/Supervisory positions are eligible for potential salary placement credits after completed forms have been received, evaluated, and approved by the Superintendent or Human Resources Department.

Please contact the Human Resources Department if you should have any questions.
