Home Education
Home education is defined by Florida Statute as “sequentially progressive instruction of a student directed by his or her parent in order to satisfy the attendance requirements of SS. 1002.41, 1003. 01 (4), and 1003.21 (1).”
To establish a Home Education program, you must notify the Superintendent of Schools in writing of your intent to initiate a Home Education program.
If you are withdrawing from a Hernando County School please contact your school to continue.

To terminate your Home Education program, you must submit an Evaluation and Letter of Termination. A link to the 'Notice to Terminate' form is below.

The testing window for the Grades 3 - 10 BEST ELA, and Grade 3 - 8 BEST Math, NGSSS Science Grade 5th and 8th, Algebra I, Geometry EOC, Biology EOC, US History EOC, 7th Grade Civics, and the Florida Civics Literacy Exam opens March 10, 2023, and closes on April 7, 2023. Please contact Mrs. Terri Slider at 352-797-7000 extension 478 to register. The deadline to register is Friday, April 7, 2023.

New for 2022-2023! FAST Testing
Home Education students will only be able to participate in AP 3 during the weeks of May 8th - May 31st. EOC testing will still be available at certain times throughout the school year: in the Fall, Winter, and Spring.
