Home education is defined by Florida Statute as “sequentially progressive instruction of a student directed by his or her parent in order to satisfy the attendance requirements of SS. 1002.41, 1003. 01 (4), and 1003.21 (1).”
To establish a Home Education program, you must notify the Superintendent of Schools in writing of your intent to initiate a Home Education program.
If you are withdrawing from a Hernando County School please contact your school to continue.

Step 2: Notice of Intent To be signed and sent to the address at the top of the form.To terminate your Home Education program, you must submit an Evaluation and Letter of Termination. A link to the 'Notice to Terminate' form is below.

Please Note: An email was sent out in error last Monday, October 18, 2021, to NON-HOME EDUCATION families across the district. If your child in not enrolled in Hernando School District Home Education, please DO NOT register for any Winter End of Course Exams using the registration link below. Your child's school will automatically identify and set up your child with any tests they may need.
Winter End of Course Exams - Test window opens November 29, 2021. End of Course exams include Algebra I, Biology, Geometry, U.S. History, Civics, and Florida Civic Literacy Exam - To register for these tests, please click on the link below. Registration deadline is November 19, 2021.
