How We Use Instructional Technology in Hernando County Schools

Instructional technology helps our teachers create engaging, personalized, and effective learning experiences for students. Here's how we use key tools and platforms across our classrooms:

  • Our classroom audio systems ensure every student can hear the teacher clearly, no matter where they sit. They support better focus, comprehension, and participation – especially for students with hearing or attention challenges.

  • Interactive displays that turn lessons into hands-on experiences. Teachers can write, draw, and manipulate content directly on the board, making learning more visual and collaborative.

  • A digital hub where students access assignments, resources, and feedback. Canvas helps organize learning and allows students to work at their own pace, while keeping parents informed about progress.

  • A creative platform that lets students and teachers design presentations, posters, and infographics. It encourages visual storytelling and creativity while building digital communication skills.

  • An interactive lesson tool that includes quizzes, polls, videos, and virtual field trips. It keeps students engaged and gives teachers real-time insights into student understanding.

  • A student-driven digital portfolio where learners can share work, reflections, and progress with their families. It strengthens the home-school connection and celebrates student growth.

  • A set of productivity tools such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote, and Outlook – used for writing, presenting, organizing, and collaborating. Students learn essential digital skills while working on projects and communicating with peers and teachers.

  • Microsoft Copilot can transform learning by providing AI-powered support for both teachers and high school students. High school students benefit from access to Copilot with available guided writing assistance, research support, accessibility tools, and real-time feedback, helping them develop critical thinking and digital literacy skills.
