Brooksville, Fla. - The Hernando School District has selected Brett Scroggins to be an assistant director of safe schools starting July 1st.
Scroggins has served as a school guardian in the district since 2021 and previously served in numerous capacities in Illinois law enforcement where he retired after 28 years of service.
“It’s an honor to be accepted for this position and I look forward to helping lead the effort of continuing to provide a safe learning environment for our students,” said Scroggins.
Scroggins is filling the position left by Angel Pagan who was recently selected to lead the office of safe schools upon the departure of Brandon DeRespiris who will now lead Endeavor Academy.
“Brett has demonstrated great leadership abilities throughout his career and I look forward to having him help shape the future of our department,” said Angel Pagan, future Director of Safe Schools.
The HCSD Office of Safe Schools mission is to ensure safety for all students and staff across the district while maintaining adherence to federal and state requirements while working collaboratively with external agencies.
