HCSD Selects New Deltona Elementary School Principal 
 
Brooksville, Fla. - The Hernando County School District has selected Sandra Giraldo to lead Deltona Elementary School starting July 1st.
 
“I am honored to be selected for this position and look forward to working alongside the DES Families, Staff, Students, and Community Members to help build a positive school culture that promotes growth, fosters meaningful relationships and achieves educational excellence,” said Giraldo.  
 
Giraldo is currently an assistant principal at Hernando High School. Before joining HHS in 2025 she served in several assistant principal and administrator roles in elementary, middle and high schools throughout Palm Beach County. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Florida Atlantic University and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Barry University and maintains certifications in Spanish, ESOL, and Gifted Education. She has an extensive background working in English Language Arts (ELA), Reading, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and ESE.

Her dedication to student achievement, commitment to academic excellence, and proven leadership abilities make her an outstanding choice for the role. I am confident Deltona Elementary will thrive and reach new heights under her leadership,” said Ray Pinder, superintendent of the Hernando County School District.
 
Giraldo is stepping into the position currently held by Toni-Ann Noyes who was appointed interim principal in March upon the sudden departure of Julie Sweeney. 
 
“I am truly going to miss my Hernando High Leopard family and my amazing colleagues. It has been such a blessing to work alongside an incredible team that leads with heart, passion, and pride. Though I may be leaving, I will always continue cheering them on and celebrating all their accomplishments,” said Giraldo.
