HCSD Assistant Superintendent Barbara Kidder Retires, Steve Crognale Chosen as Successor
Brooksville, Fla. – Barbara Kidder, Hernando County School District Assistant Superintendent of Business Services & Operations has announced her retirement with her last day in office effective Sept. 30.
“Serving this District has been the professional honor of my lifetime,” said Kidder. “Over my 40 years in public education, I have watched Hernando County Schools grow, adapt, and continually put our students first. As an Assistant Superintendent, working alongside our dedicated and hard-working teachers and support staff, our District and site-based leadership teams, and our parents and community members to navigate challenges and celebrate milestones has been an incredible privilege. Though I am stepping away from my daily role, my strong belief in the power of our schools, the dedication and commitment of our staff, and the brilliance and success of our students remain unchanged. Thank you for your partnership and friendship, shared dedication, and the wonderful memories we have created together. It has been an incredible journey I will always treasure!”
“Barbara has been an important part of our leadership team, and I am incredibly grateful for her years of service to Hernando County Schools,” said Superintendent Ray Pinder. “Her knowledge, dedication, and commitment to doing what is best for our students and employees has been invaluable. We wish her nothing but the best as she begins this well-earned next chapter.”
Following Kidder’s retirement, Steve Crognale will assume the Assistant Superintendent of Business Services & Operations role.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to step into this role and build upon the strong foundation established and I look forward to working with our team to continue strengthening our operations and providing exceptional support to our schools.”
Crognale has extensive experience across the district serving in a variety of instructional, administrative and non-instructional capacities. He currently serves as HCSD’s Executive Director of Support Operations, bringing extensive knowledge of district operations and experience to his new responsibilities.
“Steve has demonstrated strong leadership and a commitment to serving our schools,” Pinder said. “His experience within our district provides continuity while giving us an opportunity to continue improving efficiency, accountability, and the services we provide to our schools and community.”
