HCSD Announces Deedra Mitchell as New Director of Wilton Simpson Technical College

HERNANDO COUNTY, FL — The Hernando County School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Deedra Mitchell as the new Director of Wilton Simpson Technical College.
“I am honored and excited to join Hernando County School District and contribute to its adult and technical education programs,” said Mitchell. “This is an exciting time for Hernando County, and I look forward to working alongside a dedicated team of educators and business leaders to expand opportunities for students and adult learners."
Mitchell has more than 25 years of experience in K-12 education, including her most recent roles with the Pasco County School District as the career pathways and apprenticeships coordinator and senior supervisor for career, technical and adult education, where she led CTE initiatives across the district and worked to build meaningful partnerships with local businesses and industry.
“We are excited to welcome Deedra Mitchell into this important leadership role,” said Superintendent Ray Pinder. “Wilton Simpson Technical College plays a critical role in connecting education with the workforce needs of our community. Deedra’s leadership, dedication to students, and commitment to career and technical education will help us continue building programs that provide students with a direct pathway to successful careers.”
As director, Mitchell plans to work alongside faculty, staff, students, business partners, and community leaders to continue strengthening the college’s career-focused programs while helping to bolster Hernando County’s workforce.
Mitchell is succeeding Dr. Radiah Dent who resigned earlier this year.
