ACT and SAT Fee Waiver Eligibility

Who can Qualify?

  • Students in 11th and 12th grade may qualify for Fee waivers for the ACT and SAT.

How do you know if you qualify?

  • If you qualify for free or reduced lunch based on your family size and income.
  • If your family receives public assistance, which could include Medicaid or Food Stamps, you will be "directly certified" meaning your school counselor should be able to quickly verify your fee waiver eligibility in Skyward.
  • If your family does not receive public assistance, you may still qualify for fee waivers.
    • Using the chart below, find your family size and look to see if your family income is within the limits. If so, you can show your counselor a copy of your families taxes, just the portion that shows dependents (your name), family size and annual income.
  • If you live in subsidized public housing or a foster home or if your familiy is homeless.
  • If you live in a youth shelter.

How many fee waivers can I use?

  • Eligible students may get a total of two SAT Fee Waivers in their high school career.
  • Eligible students can get the registration fee paid for up to four ACT tests with or without the optional writing..
  • If your school offers the ACT or SAT for free on a school day, you can still use your fee waivers to take the ACT or SAT two more times on a weekend.

Are there any additional benefits to using an ACT or SAT fee waiver?

  • Using an SAT Fee waiver also provides you access to two free Answer Services reports for explanations of how you performed on a test and how you can improve. More info here.
  • Access to fee reductions for College Board (SAT) score verification reports.
  • Free access to Kaplan ACT Prep
  • Send additional ACT score reports to colleges for free
  • Student who test for free with an ACT or SAT fee waiver may also request w waiver of the College Admissions Application Fee. To have a college application fee waived, you must submit tyour fee waiver directly to the acollege to which you are applying. This is available from your school counselor.
